Deleting or changing datasets

Published datasets could only be deleted from the server in special cases, e.g. legal obstacles. Contextually updated records will be saved as a new version.

Copyright and exploitation rights

Creators are responsible for complying with the copyright and exploitation rights of third-party users. The creator will confirm this as legally binding with the granting of rights at the end of the publication process. If any other persons are involved in creating the data, you need their permission.

To publish your research data on Open Data LMU, you must confer the University Library a permanent non-exclusive right of use. This allows the University Library to store your dataset on the server and make it publicly available without any restrictions. It also allows the University Library to transfer your dataset to other libraries and portals.

Granting non-exclusive rights of use means that you are still able and allowed to publish your data anywhere else without the University Library's permission. You can also grant this option to third parties.

Reusing of publications with Creative Commons Licenses (CC)

As the creator, you could specify how your dataset can be (re)used by others. One way to do this is through Creative Commons Licenses and Open Data Commons Licenses. These are standardised licensing agreements.

The following licenses are available on Open Data LMU:

Regarding Open Access, we recommend CC BY and for databases ODC-BY.

Of course, it is your choice to select a license or even choose no license at all. All bibliographic metadata on Open Data LMU is free of charge and freely reusable under the license Creative Commons – CC0 1.0.
