Zum Entpacken der Daten benötigen Sie ein kompatibles Programm wie 7-Zip (Windows/Linux) oder Keka (MacOS). Das deutsch-isländische Kooperationsprojekt „Erzählen am Ende der Zivilisation“ wurde von 2023 bis 2026 von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gefördert (Projektnummer 495416732). Es handelte sich um eine Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Institut für Skandinavistik der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, dem Institut für Nordische Philologie der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, der IT-Gruppe Geisteswissenschaften der LMU München sowie dem Forschungszentrum der Universität Island in Strandir (Research Centre Strandir – The Folklore Institute). Ziel des Projekts war die Kartierung, Kontextualisierung und Analyse landschaftsbezogener Erzähltraditionen in den Bezirken Árneshreppur und Kaldrananeshreppur in der Region Strandir in den isländischen Westfjorden. Hierfür wurden sowohl Volkssagensammlungen und Archivmaterialien ausgewertet als auch Feldforschung einschließlich eigener Interviews durchgeführt. Im Rahmen des Projekts wurde eine interaktive Karte entwickelt, in der Erzählorte mit GPS-Koordinaten, Fotografien, Beschreibungen und Auszügen aus Erzählungen erfasst, untereinander verknüpft und nach Erzählmotiven (z. B. Elfen, Trolle oder Grabhügel) filterbar gemacht wurden. Er umfasst eine JSON-Datei mit georeferenzierten Erzählorten und zugehörigen strukturierten Metadaten.
