This dataset contains the research data of the study “Mehrsprachigkeit und Identitätskonstruktion im zimbrischen Sprachwechselszenarium in Norditalien”. On the one hand, it comprises sociolinguistic data collected through problem-centered interviews with participants from Giazza (Province of Verona) and Lusern (Province of Trento). These data provide insights into the processes of identity construction among speakers of the Cimbrian minority group within a multilingual setting shaped by the interaction between the majority language Italian and the minority language Cimbrian. On the other hand, the dataset includes phonetic transcriptions derived from the structural linguistic analysis. Using the same participants, Italian production data were elicited through a map-task in both in-group and out-group communicative contexts. The analysis focuses on the variables /s/, /k/, and /r/, as realized by speakers with and without Cimbrian L1.
