The central project database of VA (= VA module VA_DB) is a relational database managed using the database management system (DBMS) MySQL. In purely physical terms, this database, which is subject to regular versioning, is one of a large number of other project databases located on the MySQL cluster of the LMU's Center for Digital Humanities (ITG). This system is designed to be highly accessible and redundant. Regular backups of the databases are made on this cluster and transferred to the file servers of the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ ).

The VA MySQL database is very complex. It currently (May 2020) consists of 156 tables with a total of 1.6 GB of data. A detailed description of the content and function of each of these tables is stored in the VA module VA_WEB (Link). For further details, please refer to the article 'Technology'.
