This repository contains digital versions of the tables in the supplementary for the GRL manuscript "Enhanced polar vortex predictability following sudden stratospheric warming events" by Rupp et al.:

table_s1.csv: Dates of sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) and final warming (FW) events identified within ERA-5 re-analysis data during 72 winter-periods (1950 to 2022).

table_s2.csv: Forecast initialisations within the S2S dataset (ECMWF model) that occur within ±3 days of an observed SSW (defined in Table S1). First column (SSW date) gives the date of the observed SSW, second column (FC) numbers the forecasts available for each SSW, third column (Realtime init.) gives the initialisation date of the corresponding realtime forecast available in the S2S dataset and the fourth column (Hindcast yr.) gives the hindcast year that provides the utilised SSW ensemble (hindcast year 0 corresponds to the 51-member realtime forecast, hindcast year -1 corresponds to the 11-member hindcast initialised one year prior to the realtime forecast, etc.).
